Ramón Sampedro (Javier Bardem, "Collateral," "The Dancer Upstairs") was barely out of his teens when he dove from a rock near his home, hit the ocean floor and snapped his neck. The man who traversed the globe as a ship mechanic firmly believes that his life as a quadriplegic has no dignity. While being cared for by his sister-in-law Manuela (Mabel Rivera), Death with Dignity crusader Gené (Clara Segura) is fighting for his rights. A local factory worker, Rosa (Lola Dueñas, "Talk to Her"), tries to convince him to live while his lawyer Julia (former model Belén Rueda), who is facing the degenerative disease of CADASIL, comes to believe Ramón's wish to die is also her own in "The Sea Inside."
